Project 7: Linux Distributions (Distros)

Different versions of Linux are called Linux distribution (Distros).

The reason I use Ubuntu:

• Ubuntu is based on the Debian family of Linux distributions.
  • Debian has a very large selection ( 5,900 ) of applications and software.
  • SDR and DSP software are available for Debian.
    • GNU Radio
    • Gqrx
    • GNU Octave
• Ubuntu supports Intel NUC mini computers and Raspberry Pi computers which I use.
• Ubuntu has a very large ecosystem supported by Canonical Ltd.
• Ubuntu has many tutorials.
