Mars 2003/6/7

Mars image by David Haworth Mars Previewer II by Leandro Rios

The above image is 2X full Nikon Coolpix 990 Digital camera resolution, image processed and cropped. Images were taken through clouds, but seeing was above average.

Mars Information
The white south pole is tipped towards us. The darker regions above the south polar cap are albedo features of Mare Sirenum and Mare Cimmerium. We are seeing the night region after sunset on the right side of Mars. Limb brightening is caused by scattered light from dust and dry-ice particles high in the Martian atmosphere.
