Tektronix MDO4104-6 Signal Conditioning for Jupiter Radio Emissions

Jupiter

The purpose of this test is to determine the best spectrum analyzer center frequency and span based on the signal conditioning between the spectrum analyzer and the coax to the dipole antenna.

Based on the measurements below the spectrum analyzer center frequency is set to 21.4 MHz and the span is set to 6.5 MHz for a 1 dB band pass response. The band pass looks good with a flat frequency response.

Tektronix MDO4104-6 Mixed Domain Oscilloscope spectrum analyzer signal conditioning for monitoring the Jupiter decametric radio emission from 17.5 MHz to 24 MHz.

The vertical dBm scale is calibrate for the input to the MDO4104-6 Mixed Domain Oscilloscope spectrum analyzer. The antenna is replaced with a 50 ohm BNC terminator connected to the first 21.4 MHz band pass filter. The spectrum analyzer is set to average 16 traces for these measurements.

The band pass center frequency is 21.4 MHz and is -1.02 dBc down at +3.42 MHz as show below with the B delta marker.
