Urban Astronomy
Sure, there's no substitute for dark skies, but when the skies are urban, some of us make do. This is my take on amateur astronomy in Singapore, 1.30°N 103.83°E, sharing my limited experience...it's a lonely universe out there.
Singapore Skies
I'm often told Singapore skies are very light polluted but light and dark are relative. I've seen pi canis majoris at mag 4.68 a couple of times on pretty good nights, and right outside my house, with a streetlamp filtered by shrubs. And yes, on exceptional nights, the 7th star of the Pleiades winks at me, mag 5!
