Youth Group Nights

The N.A.A. gets many requests to host observing evenings for youth groups. This fall, we are setting aside several days for youth groups to come out to our Astronomy Education Center (see Map & Directions page).

The dates and the current availability are as follows:

  • There are currently no scheduled Youth Group nights. If you are interested in setting up an observing session with your group, simply supply your information to youths@naperastro.org or contact Rick Gering at 708-447-6146.

To request a session, fill out the following form and click the "Email Request" button:

Name of your group:
Average age of the children:
Number of children expected to attend:
Number of adults expected to attend:
Contact Name:
Contact Telephone:
Contact Email:
Additional comments or notes:
Pressing this button will display your email program with some cryptic text. This is the data you entered above in a machine readable format. Once the mail window pops up, simply click "send" to send the email to the NAA. We will then follow up with you about the request. If this method is not preferable, simply supply all of the information above to youths@naperastro.org or contact Rick Gering at 708-447-6146.

If the date you were hoping for is already filled, fill out the form anyway and we'll put you on a waiting list for that night since sometimes groups have to cancel or don't have as many people as originally thought. We will confirm a date or dates and observing location with each group in advance, and supply information on arranging for a go-or-cancel decision on the day of the session if the weather conditions are questionable.

Once we've scheduled a date for your group to visit us, we ask that you fill out a form ahead of time and bring it with you the evening of the event. To follow guidelines set by the Department of Homeland Security, the City of Naperville must keep a record of each person who enters the property where our observatory is located, since it is also home to the area's water supply system. The form, available for you to fill in and print out by clicking HERE, has a space for information from each person in your party (of any age, including parents and siblings). It will save a good deal of time if this can be filled in before your session.
