Commercial Sites
WVAS does not endose any specific business. We believe that there are many
great businesses out there that support astronomy as their main business or even as a minor
aspect of their business that deserve recognition and your purchasing consideration.
(Frankly, we are too small to even begin to research and do justice to the many great companies out there.)
Rather than doing a terrible job of who to include and why, we recommend first showing up to a club meeting and asking questions of the members. (Ours or any other clubs meeting. We astronomers tend to be a really friendly bunch!)
Addtionally, the internet has many great list available.
Below are just a few of those lists.
Star Naming
Realize that only the International Astronomical Union (IAU) may name stars
for general use. This is by international treaty. Realize that
any star naming done by anyone other than IAU is for for fun and will not
be used by the astronomomical community and that the various companies
can sell the 'same star' to as many people as they like.
