A word on the future of this site & your contribution
3 1/2 years have passed since AstroTips was first made available. With a current average of about 350 single visitors a day and a total amount of over 200.000 visits I believe it has reached considerable recognition. Still I am not satisfied: many things must be improved. New sections covering free astronomical applications for other desktop Operative Systems than Windows (BSD, Linux, MacOS, BeOS...), handhelds (PalmOS, Pocket PC, Symbian...), Java and Javascript must be created. The content must also be extended so as to include short guides on related topics and users must be given the chance to input a piece of their own minds. This, however, can only be achieved trough a total redesign and the implementation of a database with a dynamic system for managing the information. A programming task for which I will need help. Nevertheless, this is what I am working for. Give a few months and let us see what comes out...
